I began my journey keeping in mind that my entrepreneurial venture should help women who are working hard to support their family. My story and embarkment began years ago when I accidentally was introduced to the art of making cotton jewelry by an Italian artist. It was an art that was very innovative and relatable to me coming from the land of colour, exclusive fabrics and exquisite patterns. I started creating various pieces and gave them as gifts to my family and friends. Knowledge augments by sharing and I decided to teach this art to my house help for her to generate some added income for her family, thus giving me an opportunity to fulfil my dream of helping someone.
The hobby became an entrepreneurial thought when I receive a big export order that also triggered the thought of forming a company where I would generate income for women who need it. I soon decided to create a brand that would be wholly and “soully” Indian and made by Indians. The name, post a lot of brainstorming, came up as a combination of the names of my two grand-daughters and also means a devotee of Lord Krishna, our logo, the peacock resonates with this and thus was born MIRAYA !
